David was of course in good company too, being accompanied by grand officers Mike Adams (group chairman), Brian Hayes, along with other distinguished Provincial grand officers, group officers and numerous visiting brethren present for the installation meeting.

Sahr, having discharged the lodge business and opened the lodge up to the third degree, the timely point arrived where the grand officers entered the lodge room. David and his fellow grand officers having been welcomed by Sahr took their respective places.

Sahr commenced the ceremony of installing Iain into the chair which was completed in a most exemplary manner. The working tools of an installed master were presented by Cliff Bevan, followed by the working tools in the third degree, second and first degrees all presented by Phil Barnett. Sahr presented an excellent address to the master followed by David who presented a very pleasant address to the brethren of the lodge.

On completion of the ceremony, David rose and brought the congratulations and good wishes for a happy, healthy and enjoyable year from the Provincial Grand Master Tony Harrison. David said that had Tony been present, he would have witnessed a very fine installation ceremony and similarly, on Tony’s behalf, congratulated the immediate past master Sahr Kondeh for his most wonderful work, and similarly congratulated Sylvester During in his role as director of ceremonies and also to Phil Barnett who presented the tools in all three degrees.

David said it was particularly heartening to see Iain be installed into the master’s chair but more over in the knowledge that next year without doubt he will be installing his brother Andrew who is now installed as the new senior warden for the ensuing year.

Iain rose to respond to David where he thanked David for conveying those very kind wishes, he said he was most proud to be installed as WM and looked forward to his year ahead. Iain then presented David with a charitable donation by way of a cheque for £100 made out to the West Lancashire Freemasons’ Charity.

On the first rising, Mike Adams responded on behalf of the grand officers adding their congratulations and good wishes concurring with those transmitted by David, but also welcomed Iain as a ruler of the Craft in the South Eastern Group.

The meeting having ended, a very friendly and buoyant festive board continued into the evening where the responses were plentiful, amusing and thoughtful. The evening concluded a most enjoyable and memorable meeting in the annals of the lodge history.
