Members and visitors of Royal Protector Chapter No 3471 were most honoured and delighted to welcome Colin Rowling, Assistant to the Provincial Grand Principals, to their installation meeting.
On entering the convocation, Colin was accompanied by group chairman David Durling. Fellow grand officer Mike Adams was already present in the awaiting convocation in his role as director of ceremonies.
The meeting, held at Urmston Masonic Hall, was also attended by acting Provincial Grand Standard Bearer Ezra McGowan and other Provincial grand officers and South Eastern Group officers.
The installation part of the ceremony commenced by way of Mike Adams proclaiming Charles Makinson remaining as the third principal, David Emmett in his absence was declared as second principal. Mike then went on to present Sylvester During as the first principal.
The first and third principals having been installed had in fact completed the ceremony as all officers had been appointed to remain in office with Mike Adams being only too pleased as having been ‘collared’ as DC for the ensuing year.
On completion of the ceremony, Colin rose to bring the congratulations and good wishes from the Grand Superintendent Tony Harrison, whereas, on his behalf, wishing the three principals, their officers and companions in general, a happy and healthy year ahead. Colin said that if Tony had been present, he would have experienced a relaxed ceremony and congratulated those individuals of the chapter for their work during the evening. In response, Sylvester rose to thank Colin for the good wishes.
The first rising brought greetings from the grand officers to whom Mike Adams responded; who similarly congratulated the companions on the evening. Mike said the grand officers had witnessed a delightful and well directed ceremony.
The business of the convocation closed and was followed by a festive board which continued into the evening where Colin offered his own congratulations to the principals and officers of the chapter and expressed his delight in the welcome he had received.
Colin expressed his congratulations to David Durling in his reasonably new role as the group chairman and similarly to his group officers present during the evening for the work that they do too.
Continuing, Colin conveyed communications relating to the Masonic Charitable Foundation 2021 Festival, retention and recruitment, and how we should act as ambassadors towards bringing more members into the Royal Arch indicating that out of every 100 craft members there are 40 companions.
Colin said that it was a pleasure and delight for him to attend the Royal Protector Chapter installation meeting and that he had experienced an excellent evening
During the earlier progress of the evening prior to the festive board there was an unexpected presentation of a donation to the South Eastern Group by way of cheque being presented to David Durling from Ezra McGowan.
Ezra had instigated and implemented a number of fundraising ideas and with the excellent support of not only his colleagues of Hand and Heart Lodge No 4109 but other brethren too, he had raised a total of £520.00.
David said he was absolutely delighted with Ezra’s most kind and generous efforts and that the amount raised would be put for forward transmission onto the MCF 2021 Festival.
So, with the final toast of the evening having been made, it concluded an enjoyable special chapter meeting
