Following the sad passing of Dave Walmsley APGM, a ceremony was held at St Mark’s Church Worsley to celebrate the life of a wonderful friend, colleague, brother, companion and dedicated Mason.
The church was filled to capacity, a testament to his popularity and to pay homage in appreciation of the work that Dave had carried out during his career and more so during his long battle with illness that did not deter him from living life to the full.
Amongst the congregation was the PGM Tony Harrison supported by senior officers of the Craft and Royal Arch and many masons and friends who filled the church to capacity to support Dave’s family and to say farewell to a very popular gentleman.
Dave will be sadly missed both Masonically and socially due to the influence that he had on so many people’s lives throughout his life.
The service was given by Rector Mark Williams with reverence and sincerity and included a poem written and read by Dave’s daughter Claire which she aptly named “The Broken Chain”. Donations in loving memory of Dave were for the Christie Hospital who looked after him during his five year battle.
Following the service, the family attended a private cremation followed by a reception held at Elm Bank Masonic Hall and an opportunity to share stories and memories with Dave’s wife Sandra and her family and friends.
